Details

Just above the Long Bay Village is the Murray House, with its relaxed airy feel and easy access to the lovely Long Bay Beach.  The view is awesome looking out to Jost Van Dyke, Sandy Cay and islets beyond.  The Murray House has been recently decorated and offers great outdoor living with its three pavilions surrounding the pool deck.

From the driveway, you enter the Great Room, with its sumptuous cushioned elephant bamboo furniture.  There are three sets of glass doors, which open out onto a covered deck.  Enjoy a book in the quiet shade of the house, and there is a second dining table and chairs. The wrap around porch leads to the pool deck with loungers and chairs, and is partially cover from the sun!

Leading off the pool deck is the full kitchen at the Murray House, laundry facilities are just off the kitchen along with a half bathroom. The BBQ is under cover and adjacent to the covered dining area.

The Master Suite is on the ground floor, next to the pool. There is a King Four-Poster bed in elephant bamboo, with a private porch with chairs and ottomans. The bathroom has a walk-in shower and twin basins. To the other bedrooms, you follow steps from the pool which lead up to two further bedroom suites.  There is a shared deck where you can look over the pool and onward to the ocean. All bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms, in the second suite there is a private outdoor stone-wall shower.

Also, the photos showcased do not do justice to Murray House. The House is much more beautiful! — JANINE PRINGLE, 14 Aug 2024
Once again, my family and I of six thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Murray House in Tortola- Long Bay. We enjoy travelling throughout the Caribbean an Murray House has always been one of our top stays! The house is even more beautifully furnished than it was 18 years ago. Impact hurricane windows, new beautiful comfortable furnishings in the living/family room. So many vignette spots to relax and enjoy the gorgeous paramount ocean view! Two different areas to have Al Fresco Dining. My favorite Al Fresco Dining is to the left part of the house. Love, love, love the kitchen as always! Fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. The kitchen is actually the most equipped that we have seen in our travels! The support from Neil at BVI Vacation Villas and the local team- Jude was first class. Extremely communicative proactive and timely!!! FYI, the two twin beds in one of the guest rooms can either be put together or pulled apart to accommodate the sleeping arrangements as needed. You will be nestled in lush privacy in the hills while having beach access. Make sure you pack good safe walking shoes to walk down the hill. Will need some mosquito spray -especially early AM or at Pm as well. The house does provide a lot of sprays and sunscreen but if you have a special non-allergenic/organic spray, you will need it. If you going to take the ferry to visit The Baths at Virgin Gorda, make sure you ready to walk and that you have no physical restrictions. Take special walking, climbing shoes with grips to walk through caves, water and some slippery moss rocks. Sebastian is great for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Ask for Coral and Prudence -two lovely friendly helpful servers. Some of the Chefs at Sebastian are Jamaican and may make you some special dishes, that are not on the menu. We had the best breakfast Steak and eggs and fabulous yummy Curry Grouper-not on menu :). Staying at Murray House will be a memorable experience. We highly recommend Murray House! :) Enjoy!!! — JANINE PRINGLE, 14 Aug 2024
Our family of three thoroughly enjoyed our time in Tortola and especially our stay at the Murray House! The property is well maintained with spacious bedrooms, bathrooms and living areas. The views were breathtaking and could be enjoyed from many areas of the property-master bedroom, living room, and the plentiful covered porches. Neil provided excellent information prior to our trip and Jon was in constant touch throughout our week-long stay. Jude is a delight and was very responsive to our questions/issues. There are many elements that contribute to a positive vacation experience - we were fortunate that the Murray House and its staff hit the mark! — Maria McCarthy, 12 Aug 2023
We just finished a wonderful vacation at Murray House! The house is beautiful, the outdoor patio/swim area is spectacular, and rooms are clean and comfortable with great views everywhere. Our whole family enjoyed our stay. Jon and Jude were outstandingly helpful while we were there, and communication was always clear, quick, and friendly. Highly recommend, and we look forward to returning. — Anna and Family, 07 Jul 2023
My husband and I got married in 2002 on Long Bay beach and stayed at Murray House. Now, 20 years later, we returned to celebrate our anniversary. It was even better than we imagined! From the first email to BVI Vacation Villas to our last taxi ride to the Beef Island airport, our “repeat” experience was top notch! The house was even more glorious than we remembered and the view was still “to die for” 🥰. Everyone we met was gracious and helpful.
Thank you Allison, Jon, Jude, Mary and Eric for all that you do, we greatly appreciated it. Our 20th at Murray House turned out to be our best anniversary yet! Looking forward to a repeat performance.
Miss you already BVIs…

Our family loved our stay at Murray House and traveling around the BVI! The location is wonderful, with just a 10 minute ride to West End/Soper's Hole with many restaurants, grocery store and the ferry to Jost Van Dyke. The beautiful Cane Garden Bay is within 15 minutes as well. The villa itself is extremely spacious and more than exceeded our expectations. Jon and Jude were both amazing with communication, as well as guiding us into the villa from the main road when we arrived late on a Saturday night after the nightmare of the public ferry entrance process (I would encourage using a private ferry from STT during high season unless the COVID entry process changes). The air conditioning was a dream in the spacious living room and the bedrooms, and the huge bathrooms / outdoor showers were amazing! Our family had so much fun with the games they had available for us! You do have to be careful to cover the food in the kitchen as the ants tend to gather, but that is more of an island-thing and not just for this particular villa (pro tip: store food in the microwave so it is sealed away). We really enjoyed the beautiful views of Long Bay that were visible virtually from all directions! My only complaint would be 5-6 am wake up calls from all the local chickens! — Cindy Brewer, 04 Apr 2022
We thoroughly enjoyed our extended vacation at the Murray House on the West End above Long Bay! The location on Tortola can’t be beat -- a five-minute walk to Long Bay Beach, a ten-minute drive to Smuggler’s Cove Beach, short walks to the 1748 Restaurant and Beach Bar at Long Bay Beach Resort and the Tropical Fusion Restaurant; we even took a morning jog to Sebastian’s for breakfast. With a short drive over the island to the south shore, you have Soper’s Hole – with Omar’s Fusion, Omar’s Cafe, Pusser’s, various shopping, and a Riteway grocery store. A 25-minute drive to Road Town offers many opportunities for restaurants, bars, and shopping. The driveway and road to the Murray House are both very steep, but after exploring the rest of the island, we realized that we had one of the easier locations to reach after all.
The villa has plenty of space to spread out as described, with so many places to relax inside and out. The large kitchen is great for preparing your own meals, with all the major appliances plus a microwave, toaster, blender, and coffee maker. It does lack a few of the small essentials (a complete set of measuring cups and measuring spoons, kitchen sponges, only three steak knives). We used the outside grill several times and happily dined al fresco at one of the two dining sets every time we ate at home. Nothing beats the sound of waves crashing and the sunset view during dinner! There was no satellite or cable TV available, but who wants to watch TV when you overlook a beautiful tropical beach with views of Jost Van Dyke, Sandy Spit, and several other small islands. We loved keeping the kitchen and living room doors propped open for the beautiful Caribbean breezes throughout the day. We especially enjoyed lounging in the pool and outside chaises, and yet the air conditioning unit in our bedroom was greatly appreciated for a comfortable sleep each night. The master suite had an incredible amount of storage and closet space. There are no window shades or curtains in the master bedroom, so some folks might be uncomfortable depending on who else is staying with them in the villa, as all outside areas can look directly into the bedroom. Plenty of quality bath towels were provided as well as beach towels and a couple of beach chairs. We were thrilled that mosquitos were not an issue at all (during our February/March visit), but ants in the kitchen quickly taught us that we had to be vigilant and not leave a single crumb or drop of liquid on the counter. The property manager, Jon, and his assistant, Jude, were both so helpful in responding to any issues or questions we had and making sure we had everything we needed or desired. Housekeeping came every few days to change the sheets, wash the towels, and do general cleaning, and the swimming pool was cleaned a couple times during our stay.
We highly recommend and would definitely return to Murray House in the future, and Allison Tomes was an absolute pleasure to work with in planning our vacation!
